The best beach drinks to order in Mexico

For your vacations we assume you want to visit good spots, try good food but also try good Mexican drinks. In this blog we investigate for you the top 3 alcoholic drinks that you must enjoy on your next visit to Nuevo Vallarta or Playa del Carmen.


Margarita

First our favorite and popular cocktail “Margarita”. This is a combination of lime juice, triple sec and of course TEQUILA! You can serve it with salt on the rim of your glass. Is common to see it totally frozen but also you can do it on the rocks. Is impossible not to try it in Mexico, it is a very famous and emblematic drink not only in Nuevo Vallarta or Playa del Carmen, it is famous around the world! We don’t know exactly if the drink was created in Mexico but we are pretty sure you will enjoy it. If you feel brave, ask for the one with Mango and some spicy powder. 

How to prepare a classic Margarita?

  • 1-1/2 oz. Tequila
  • 1 oz. Cointreau or Triple sec
  • 1/2 oz. fresh lime juice
  • Splash simple syrup (Mango, Strawberry, etc.)
  • Rim salt and Ice

Paloma

Refreshing and easy, that is our “Paloma” famous because you can prepare it in 30 seconds. Tequila, grapefruit soda and lime served on the rocks (You can add Rim salt too). Many people love this drink because it is kind, salty and sweet at the same time and that helps against the spicy Mexican food.

How to prepare a Paloma? 

  • ¼ cup fresh grapefruit soda
  • 1 tbsp. fresh lime juice
  • ¼ cup Tequila
  • Rim salt and Ice

Michelada

Yeah, in Mexico there exists a Beer cocktail… Is called “Michelada” similar to the famous “Bloody Mary” but better and spicy. Beer, lime juice, salt, chili, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce (known as “salsa inglesa”), all together and yeah your glass with a salt rim makes it delicious. Some people add Tomato juice but that’s up to you, in some cities it is only Lime juice, Salt and beer so be specific when you ask for your Michelada (The original michelada is the one in the first description). 

How to prepare a Michelada?

  • 4 oz Beer 
  • 1/2 oz Lime juice
  • 1 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Rim salt and Ice
